Episode Context

Coming off Episode 867's shadowy assassination subplot, Episode 868 narrows the lens entirely onto the Luffy-Katakuri showdown, marking one of the most character-defining installments in the Whole Cake Island arc. Flampe's interference becomes a pivotal catalyst that reshapes the dynamics of the fight. This episode builds directly toward the climactic resolution of one of One Piece's most celebrated one-on-one battles in the episodes immediately ahead.
