Watching Grount struggle to control that massive arm made his loss to Luffy feel a lot more personal and tragic than your typical filler villain fight

Luffy and the others finally sailing away at the end was such a relief, because it means we are officially done with filler and moving on to the actual Big Mom stuff

I was laughing so much at Nami and Carrot just eating all the stolen food while the fight was going down and it made the whole infiltration feel like a classic Straw Hat mess

I usually skip filler but Grount actually had a really sad story with that monster arm and his connection to Aokiji, so seeing him go all out against Luffy was surprisingly decent for an anime original arc. The animation on that final Thor Elephant Gun was way better than I expected and now we are finally getting into Whole Cake Island

whoa, that devil fist attack totally threw me off, it felt like something from a whole different show! but honestly, seeing luffy just brush it off as a warm-up only hyped me up more for what's coming next, my boy's ready to rumble.

The music sounded a bit weird during the big fight but the action made up for it. That monster arm looked so creepy when it was finally unleashed against Luffy

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode wraps up the anime-original Marine Rookie Arc, concluding the Straw Hats' detour on Fron Island against Grount, Bonham, and Zappa. It sits directly before the crew's transition into the Whole Cake Island Arc, one of One Piece's most consequential sagas centered on retrieving Sanji. Viewers can safely skip this filler without missing any canon story beats, but it functions as a brief action palate cleanser before the heavy narrative ahead.
