I am still processing that giant dude falling ten thousand meters and just getting up with a headache while the alliance guys were absolutely shaking in their boots

That massive shadow looming over Kid and the others was terrifying and the design for Kaido is so much cooler than the silhouettes we saw before. He is a total monster

Having a hobby of trying to kill yourself because you are too strong is the most intimidating character trait ever shown in this series

The Swirly Hat pirates being back on Zou was a nice break but Kaido landing on Kid and Apoo and Hawkins completely stole the show. That man is a literal giant

It feels so good to finally be away from Dressrosa and seeing Sanji save Brook from that weird sheep guy was a great change of pace

The look on the faces of Kid and Hawkins when they saw what climbed out of that hole in the ground said everything about the power gap

Watching Nami and the rest of the crew on that weird moving island is refreshing and it is about time we got back to what they are doing

The way Zoro looked in that one shot was so weird and anorexic but the animation for the big landing totally made up for it

I honestly didn't know what to expect when they showed the sky island again, but that landing was insane and the narrator explaining how Kaido has been captured so many times without dying really set the tone and seeing him stand in front of Kid and the rest of that alliance makes me wonder how anyone is going to survive this journey

The stuff with Sanji and the crew on Zou felt a little slow but everything changed once that giant man landed in the middle of the pirate base. His suicide hobby is actually insane

I felt so bad for Chopper trying to help everyone on Zou while dealing with Caesar being his usual annoying self but then that ending just completely changed the mood

I was actually shaking when the narrator started talking about how Kaido survived every single execution attempt because he just feels completely unbeatable right now

The sheer size of Kaido compared to the other pirates was enough to make you realize why he has that strongest creature title and the voice acting for him is perfect

Kaido trying to kill himself and being annoyed that he survived is such a menacing character trait, especially when you see the destruction he caused just by landing

Kid and Hawkins and Apoo really just had their whole alliance meeting ruined by a giant man falling from the sky and you can tell those three were absolutely terrified
roy_mustang_116's avatar

Hearing about all the times he was supposed to be executed and nothing could actually kill him makes my skin crawl
yanari_yurei's avatar

Kaido just casually strolling out of that crater after falling from 10,000 meters completely blew my mind, like, how is he even alive?! And then for him to talk about Whitebeard like that, standing so tall over everyone, it just made me realize how truly monstrous he must be if he's comparing himself to legends.

Finally seeing the other half of the crew on Zou was nice but Kaido just stole the entire episode by being a literal force of nature who cannot die
ruby's avatar

The introduction for Kaido was easily the most intimidating thing the anime has done in a while because that scale was terrifying and he just dwarfed everyone standing in front of him
dendra's avatar

It is actually wild that Kaido is so bored he jumps off sky islands for a hobby, and the music during that whole scene made him feel like an actual demon

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the conclusion of the Dressrosa arc and Sabo's emotional departure, this episode serves as a critical bridge into the next phase of the Straw Hats' journey, introducing Kaido as a looming threat that redefines the crew's challenges going forward. The split-crew dynamic takes center stage as Sanji's group faces new conflicts on unfamiliar ground, laying essential groundwork for the storylines that will dominate the coming episodes. This is where One Piece begins escalating toward the Yonko saga in earnest.
