It was a total shock to find Buggy in the middle of this prison, but I loved how he stayed just as loud and angry as he was the first time we met him.

Episode Context

This episode launches the Impel Down Arc, picking up directly from Luffy's desperate decision to rescue Ace after learning of his scheduled execution. It transitions the story from open seas to a claustrophobic, high-security prison setting, fundamentally shifting the show's tone toward infiltration and survival. Everything here lays the groundwork for one of One Piece's most intense gauntlets, where Luffy will face escalating threats across Impel Down's notorious levels.
