Episode Context

Coming directly after Luffy's recovery from his first devastating encounter with Crocodile, Episode 112 shifts focus to the broader conflict, the collision course between Alabasta's two armies that Baroque Works has been engineering from the start. The Straw Hats' strategic split here is the launchpad for the individual matchups and battles that define the climax of the Alabasta arc. This is the calm before the storm breaks wide open.
