EPISODE REVIEWS

You can tell Crocodile is on a different level because Luffy could not even touch him and it feels like the crew is actually in trouble for the first time

Episode Context

Coming directly off the Straw Hats' escape from Rain Dinners, this episode escalates the Alabasta arc into full-blown war footing by pitting Luffy against the saga's central villain for the first time. It marks a critical turning point where the conflict with Crocodile shifts from political intrigue and survival to direct, personal combat. Everything that follows in the arc's climax builds from what's established in this confrontation.
