Episode Context

Positioned at episode 18 of 21, this lands squarely in the final stretch of the Fish-Man Island Saga, following the Straw Hats' massive showdown against 100,000 opponents and shifting the threat to an existential level. The introduction of Noah's descent raises the stakes beyond any individual fight, compressing the arc's themes of history, racism, and inherited promises into one devastating crisis. It directly sets up the next episode's decisive Luffy vs. Hody Jones confrontation, making it essential connective tissue between the arc's grand battle and its resolution.
