Nymphs of the Stratosphere

From the stratosphere descend five beautiful beings into a world humanity has already managed to wreck. They look like angels, they smell like forbidden fruit, and their apparent purpose is to bring some kind of comfort to a devastated human race. The story kicks off with a young programmer burning the midnight oil when he spots one of these mysterious women on his balcony, quietly watching a couple across the way. She vanishes before he can make sense of what he saw, but she leaves behind that strange, lingering scent — and now he can't stop thinking about her. This 3-episode OVA leans hard into its sci-fi premise while being very upfront about the erotic content. It's got that early-2000s atmospheric quality where the world feels quietly broken and the story moves at a slow, moody pace. If you went in for Angel Core or Bible Black because you wanted something with an actual narrative thread running through it rather than just scene after scene, this scratches a similar itch. The celestial-beings-meet-devastated-humanity angle gives it a slightly melancholic undercurrent that separates it from more straightforward entries in the genre.
