That's the setup here — a celestial conflict gets settled not through epic battles but through a very different kind of competition, with an angel named Sera and a demon named Firika both sent to the human world to win Yamato's affection. The rivalry between them is the engine of the whole thing, and it works because their personalities clash in ways that are genuinely fun to watch, even before things get explicit.
