Going undercover inside a pharmaceutical company suspected of manufacturing illegal drugs, three government agents find themselves in trouble fast. Yuki Miyagawa leads the operation alongside her colleagues Reiko and Kana, but the company's researchers figure them out before the mission can go anywhere. What starts as a spy infiltration becomes something much darker when the agents are captured and used as test subjects under the pretense of scientific research. The setup is bleak and doesn't pull many punches about where it's headed. This is a 2-episode OVA from 2006, adapted from a visual novel, so it moves quickly and leans hard into its dark tone rather than building slowly. The character designs are detailed and the atmosphere stays tense throughout — the espionage framing gives it a bit more narrative grounding than most titles in this space. If you've watched something like Shoujo Senki Soul Eater or Bible Black and appreciated how those titles used a darker plot structure to carry the content rather than just skipping straight to the point, this one follows a similar approach. It's not trying to be something it isn't — the premise is grim, the tone is grim, and it commits to that from the start. Night Shift Nurses fans who like a more action-adjacent setup will probably find the spy angle a welcome change of pace. Short runtime, clear premise, does what it sets out to do.
