Following Episode 7's introduction of WNA Academy life, its staff, and new rules, Episode 8 pulls Burton and Berecca aside for a more secretive, personal investigation within that same setting. This episode functions as a focused character-pair detour inside the early academy arc rather than advancing the wider group storyline. Episode 9 then shifts perspective entirely to Emma and Lucy for a separate city-side adventure, making this one of several contained two-character stories the season uses to build out its ensemble.
