Episode Context

This episode pivots away from the standard academy slice-of-life format seen in the preceding 'Smiley face is important,' kicking off a pirate-centric mini-arc by reintroducing Daisankyouei-maru and his latest string of nautical nonsense. It directly establishes the conflicts and character dynamics that carry into the following episode, 'The pirates enemies are who?'. Think of it as the comedic setup chapter for a brief but entertaining detour from ninja school life.
