This episode included flashbacks about the founding of the organization NERV. It explains how the world fell apart and shows how the main characters—Gendo, Yui, Ritsuko, and Misato—became the broken individuals they are today.

this episode's a history lesson but a juicy one. all the backstabbing, science disasters, and why gendo's such a mess. it is once again slow but essential one so skip if you don't care about lore.
