This episode was pretty good, I think that while it was pretty sudden for a start it was still entertaining. Shinji came basically out of nowehere and even he couldn't find a reason for why he decided to come, which was a bit weird, but everything else was fine. Misato was pretty fun, and Rei's reveal was pretty mysterious but creative, I think it sets up the stage pretty well. I also really wanted to praise the fact that unlike many other animes they didn't make Shinji win but instead actually made him get absolutely destroyed, it was one of the more realistic takes in this episode.
