Synopsis
Kokoro Yamihara seems completely ordinary to everyone around her in the small town of Mizumori, quiet, kind, the sort of person everyone likes. Her boyfriend Toramatsu is popular and well-meaning, and they seem like a perfectly normal couple. Except Kokoro is a vampire who refuses to hurt anyone, and both of them are hiding things from each other that could unravel everything. That tension alone would make for a compelling watch, but then a new murder shows up: body drained of blood, echoing a string of unsolved killings from five years ago, and suddenly the town is scared again and Kokoro is in a very complicated position. The story keeps its focus tight on the relationship and the emotional weight of living a double life rather than leaning into action or gore. It's more about the slow erosion of trust and what it costs to love someone while keeping secrets than it is about vampire mythology. If you liked the eerie small-town atmosphere of Shiki or the emotional tension in Vampire Knight, this sits comfortably in that space, though it feels closer to a quiet thriller than either of those. The mystery element adds real stakes without overwhelming the character work. It's the kind of show where the most interesting drama isn't the murders, it's two people circling around truths they're both afraid to say out loud.
