Sasuke gets healed instantly but then Lee gets told his career is over and it is just the most depressing way to start a new era for the village

I am actually gutted for Lee right now and seeing him find out he can never be a ninja again was just brutal after how hard he worked to get there

Watching Naruto stand there while Sakura clings to Sasuke makes you realize how much he is starting to understand their dynamic, and his face said everything even without him saying a word

My heart broke for Konohamaru trying to protect that room because he is not ready to let go of the old man yet

Akamaru peeing on that guy was the only thing that could make anyone smile in this whole episode and Kiba actually looked so proud of his dog for it

People calling this a filler episode are wrong because Lee getting told his career is over is way too important to skip, and Tsunade is finally back

Lee refusing to give up even when his body is literally falling apart is exactly why he is my favorite character in this show

Getting to see Tsunade heal Kakashi so fast really hammers home that she is on a completely different level than the other medics

Sakura grabbing Sasuke the second he woke up was a nice moment but the atmosphere in that hospital room was still so tense

Naruto asking about ramen while everyone is dealing with this life or death news actually made me laugh because he never changes

Watching Tsunade finally walk through those gates and immediately get to work was such a relief, but man that scene with Lee was a total gut punch and seeing Guy struggle to hold it together while Tsunade explained the risks of the surgery really puts into perspective how much he cares about his student, and it made the whole diagnosis feel so heavy

That 50/50 chance is such a brutal ultimatum for someone who worked as hard as Lee did to become a ninja

The look on Guy when he heard the news about Lee was almost harder to watch than Lee himself and they are basically family

Tsunade fixing the brain damage from Itachi like it was nothing really shows why she was the only choice for Hokage

I felt so sick hearing Tsunade tell Lee he might die during that surgery and seeing his face just broke my heart

That move Akamaru used against Sakon and Ukon where he just pees on them to mark them is honestly so gross and yet it actually works better than most real ninja techniques

It is wild how different Tsunade is from the Third, but she already proved her skills by getting Kakashi out of that coma so quickly

My heart actually shattered when Lee tried to stay positive even after Tsunade told him the surgery is basically a death sentence or his career is over

The scene where Sakura just threw herself at Sasuke the second he opened his eyes was so emotional and you can tell she was really terrified of losing him

Hearing about Lee being told his career is over felt way too sudden and I hate that his entire character arc basically ended because of one reckless fight

EPISODE CONTEXT

Arriving at episode 98 of 220, this canon episode marks the return to the main storyline after the standalone hot spring adventure of episode 97, firmly establishing Tsunade's tenure as Fifth Hokage and the ripple effects on the village. It serves as crucial connective tissue between the Search for Tsunade arc's resolution and the emerging challenges of new leadership, directly setting the stage for 'The Will of Fire Still Burns!' as characters begin processing both personal and collective upheaval.
