The way Naruto ended up getting chased by a whole stampede of bulls on his way to the arena was ridiculous and he needs to stop taking shortcuts that involve giant underground slides

Those parents in the crowd looked exactly like Ino and Shikamaru and Choji so it was pretty easy to guess who they were. Seeing the dads show up to support their kids at the finals was cool

Shikamaru is out there about to fight for his life and his dad is just treating the whole chunin exam like some random summer festival

Neji is definitely going to be a problem but Naruto looks ready now thanks to that pep talk at the training ground

I really felt for Naruto when he was second-guessing his chances against Neji, because we usually only see his loud side. Hinata stepping up to tell him he is a proud failure was the cutest thing ever, and it totally fixed his mood. Plus the whole bull chase scene was just pure chaos and it helped balance out the nerves for the finals.

Sasuke better show up soon because everyone is waiting at the stadium and Neji is just standing there looking like he already won the whole tournament without even fighting yet

Naruto running from a pack of bulls and falling through that tree was actually hilarious and it really lightened things up before his big match with Neji

That underground slide was way too long for a shortcut and it actually made the wait for the first match feel even longer than it needed to be today

It was so cool to see Hinata finally find her voice and give Naruto that speech, because he was clearly in his head about the match. That comedic chase with the bulls felt a bit out of place, though. Everyone is stressing about where Sasuke is but Neji is just chilling while Naruto is out there sliding through random tunnels to get there

Hinata really came through for him today, and I think it was exactly what Naruto needed to hear before facing Neji, because his confidence was totally shot after all that training

I think it was so sweet how Hinata finally got to talk to Naruto and she gave him the exact boost he needed to stop doubting himself

Neji acts like destiny is already written but Naruto showing up with whatever secret training he did with the toads makes it feel like he is about to prove him wrong

Konohamaru trying to help but actually just making Naruto even more late was such a funny addition to an episode that is mostly just build up

I feel so bad for Naruto because he was actually admitting he feels like a failure and Hinata told him he is a proud failure and that actually made him look happy

Neji is such a terrifying opponent and seeing Naruto actually doubt himself for once makes the wait for their match feel genuinely scary

Hinata getting all flustered while telling Naruto he was a proud failure made me so happy and seeing him actually gain some confidence from her words was really sweet

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at episode 59 of 220, this lands right at the climax of the Chūnin Exams arc — one of Naruto's most iconic stretches. The previous episode escalated tension significantly with Gaara's menacing hospital confrontation, and this episode channels that unease into anticipation as the final tournament brackets are about to kick off. It directly sets the stage for Naruto's highly anticipated showdown against Neji Hyuga, a fight that carries major thematic payoff for both characters.
