I think Jiraiya is actually reckless for tossing Naruto into a ravine but it worked and seeing the Chief Toad finally show up was worth the stress

You can see the fear on Naruto's face when he realizes how big that toad actually is and he still refuses to let go

Gamabunta is such a beast and that giant pipe plus the attitude made his entrance so cool

Jiraiya is such a terrible teacher for putting a kid through that but the results speak for themselves and that toad is a beast

Seeing Naruto survive that crazy ride without any chakra left proves he has more guts than any other ninja in the village

That toad really has an attitude problem but watching him realize Naruto is actually tough was satisfying

Gamabunta jumping all over the place to shake a little kid off his head was the funniest thing this show has done so far

I can't get over how Jiraiya just shoved Naruto off a cliff to make him use the fox chakra and it actually worked even though it was terrifying to watch. The way Naruto just clung to the toad's head for hours until he finally passed out really shows how stubborn he is and seeing Gamabunta bring him to the hospital was so sweet. It's cool how the toad knows the Fourth Hokage too.

I thought Naruto was going to get crushed and then he just summons a massive toad out of nowhere

Gamabunta finally signing the contract and acknowledging Naruto after that insane jumping match felt like such a huge win

Gamabunta completely dominates the screen, and the scale of the summoning makes Naruto's previous attempts look silly. It really changes things when a kid has that kind of power

Jiraiya is definitely the worst teacher ever for pushing his student into a giant hole. It paid off because that boss toad is way more scary than any of the other summons so far

The sand village ninjas talking about starting a war while Naruto is just trying to ride a toad is a weird contrast. Gaara looking all creepy in the shadows really sets a dark tone

That toad is so grumpy and mean to a literal child. It was hilarious watching him jump around trying to shake Naruto off like a flea while Naruto just screamed and held on

I still can't believe Jiraiya actually threw him off a cliff like that and it was terrifying. It was worth it to see that giant toad pop out though

Learning that only the fourth hokage ever stood on that toad's head is a massive deal. It makes you wonder what the actual connection is between the leader and this loud blonde kid

I was so hyped when the Nine-Tails chakra started leaking out because it meant Naruto finally reached deep enough to summon something bigger than a tadpole

That scene where Naruto hangs onto the toad until the sun goes down shows he really has the guts to be a ninja

Having the Fourth Kazekage show up for a second makes the whole situation with the Sand Village feel much more threatening and dark

That kid refusing to let go while the toad jumped around was impressive. He just won't give up and that has to be why the boss eventually let him stay

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode directly follows Naruto's intensive training sessions under Jiraiya, serving as the payoff for his struggle to master a powerful new summoning technique. It marks a critical milestone in his pre-Chūnin Exams preparation, establishing an alliance that will carry significant weight in the battles ahead. The growth Naruto demonstrates here bridges the gap between his earlier failures and the high-stakes confrontations the arc is building toward.
