the izanagi reveal is cool and the susanoo moment hits hard but the pacing drags way too much in between, lots of standing around and explaining when you just want them to fight. felt like half the episode was waiting for something to actually happen

Whoa, I was seriously tense when Todoroki was about to finish Gantetsu off, but then Naruto just interposed himself, taking that blow right to the arm. It made me realize again how deeply Naruto believes in his ideals, even if it means putting himself in harm's way for people he barely knows, and seeing him wince afterwards really showed the cost.

The umbrella ninja using a parachute to drop into the boat was such a random move. Then he just glides away while everyone else falls off a waterfall

Watching the Rasengan hit that gauntlet guy made me happy because the animation was decent and Naruto got a clean hit in

Todoroki being so obsessed with killing Gantetsu makes the whole mission feel so tense and dark. It is crazy how he just glares at him in that forest

I thought Naruto using those shadow clones as a human shield to block the needles showed he is acting like a proper leader for once

Sakura and Lee being stuck on the river bank while Naruto is off in a trap is typical filler stuff. Lee trying to be positive is still nice to see

Gantetsu taking that snake bite for Naruto was a huge shock, and it really makes you wonder if Todoroki has the wrong guy after all

That umbrella ninja just ditching them at the waterfall was cold and I thought for sure the boat exploding was going to be the end of the prisoner

That massive metal gauntlet smashing through the trees looked great and it forced Naruto to actually use some strategy with his shadow clones instead of just running in headfirst and hoping for the best

Sakura and Lee basically just spent the entire time walking through the mud and looking worried and it felt like a waste of time while the interesting stuff was happening with the other group

I know people usually skip the filler after the Sasuke arc, but the tension between Todoroki and Gantetsu is actually written better than most. Troy Baker is doing a great job voicing Todoroki, and it makes the scene where he breaks down about his brother Akio feel more grounded. Seeing Naruto struggle to keep everyone alive in that forest is decent enough for this arc

Naruto taking a hit on his own arm just to stop Todoroki from murdering Gantetsu shows how much he hates the cycle of revenge and it was a heavy way to end the episode

The umbrella guy using the Blood Rain technique was kind of a letdown and his retreat during the waterfall plunge felt like a cheap way to get him out of the scene for a bit

The way the moon stays in the same spot while they walk in circles is a creepy detail for a forest hideout and it creates a nice atmosphere for a random filler story

That flashback with the house on fire and the little brother getting taken was brutal and it makes it hard to blame Todoroki for being so aggressive toward the guy he thinks destroyed his whole life

The Rasengan felt earned when Naruto finally used it against that guy with the metal arm, and seeing him take a hit for Gantetsu at the end really got to me

This is definitely one of those filler episodes where the budget is lower but seeing Gantetsu take a snake bite for Naruto raises questions about whether he is really the villain Todoroki thinks he is

I thought they were goners when that boat went over the waterfall and then seeing Todoroki crawl out with that huge blade just to hunt Gantetsu down was actually pretty chilling

That cliffhanger ending with the knife at Gantetsu's throat was so stressful. Todoroki is clearly hurting but he almost stabbed Naruto and that part was way too close for comfort

EPISODE CONTEXT

This is the middle chapter of the Gantetsu Escort Mission filler arc, following episode 209's introduction of the Ninja Dropouts as antagonists and the initial ambush. It deepens the tension between Naruto, Gantetsu, and Todoroki before episode 211, 'Memory of Flames,' shifts focus toward backstory reveals and escalating conflict. Sitting at episode 210 of 220, this lands squarely in Naruto's extended filler run that bridges the gap to Shippuden.
