filler episode where jiraiya drags naruto to some random genjutsu village for training but it ends up being another generic hostage situation, the bits with jiraiya and naruto are decent enough but it just feels like we're spinning our wheels waiting for real content to start again

It is wild how this started as a moving job and turned into a whole war situation. Seeing Naruto finally show some actual brain cells in a fight was great

I actually liked seeing Naruto act like a real leader for once. The mission seemed so boring at first and then the Three Criminal Brothers showed up to wreck everything

haruna bribing momiji like that was such a snake move and it really made me want to see her get called out later

everyone says to skip filler hell but you might miss out on these random episodes where naruto actually acts competent for once

Gosh, I was so mad when Haruna tricked everyone pretending to be Shun, like, why even go there? And manipulating Momiji felt extra slimy, it just really rubbed me the wrong way how she played with their feelings like that.

I usually skip through this part of the show because most of these episodes are pretty bad, but this one actually caught my attention naruto taking charge of the group and acting like a real leader instead of just a loud kid was a nice change of pace and the weird moving service plot kept things interesting for a filler

Choji and Hinata worked surprisingly well under Naruto, and it was cool seeing them utilize their different skills to protect the caravan when things got messy

The transition from just moving some boxes to protecting a princess from a military takeover was handled really well and it kept the momentum going the whole time

Seeing Shun bribe Momiji for information was such a shady move and it immediately made me realize this wasnt going to be a normal escort mission

I honestly expected another boring fetch quest but seeing Naruto take charge of Hinata and Choji was so satisfying to watch. Most filler makes him look like a total brat but here he actually acted like a shinobi who knows what he is doing. The plot with Princess Haruna hiding as Shun kept me interested, and Renga is surprisingly intimidating for a filler guy

Hinata and Choji are such a random duo to pair with Naruto but their chemistry during the caravan escort made the whole episode feel fresh compared to the usual stuff

Those little tokens Tsunade has for available ninja are a cool bit of detail for how the village works and it made the team up with Choji and Hinata feel more natural

I usually skip the filler episodes but this one with the peddlers was actually good because Naruto finally looked like a capable leader for once

The way this mission went from a boring moving job to a full on political coup in the Green Country was a total shift and Renga seems like a legit threat for a filler villain

Naruto leading Hinata and Choji actually worked out way better than I expected and seeing him handle a squad like that was a nice change of pace

Squad lead Naruto is a great change of pace for this series and the way he protected everyone when the mission got real shows how much he grew since the early days and even that new character Shun is interesting enough to keep me watching the rest of this peddler arc instead of skipping ahead like I usually do with filler

Those little ninja tokens Tsunade uses are such a cool world detail and it makes sense that they would have a system for who is ready for a mission at any given time

I am stuck in filler hell but this episode was actually a bright spot for me since the team dynamic with Choji and Hinata was surprisingly fun to watch

Shun is kind of an annoying character, but bribing info out of Momiji was a clever move that makes this escort mission a bit more interesting than the usual filler stuff

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting deep in Naruto's extended filler stretch (episodes 136-220), this episode launches the Peddlers Escort Mission arc immediately following the standalone 'Laughing Shino' episode. It establishes the core conflict and team dynamic that will carry through the next several episodes. As the first chapter of this mini-arc, it prioritizes setup and atmosphere over resolution, laying groundwork for escalating threats tied to the mysterious merchants and their pursuers.
