I actually liked how this episode explored Soku feeling like she missed out on the war and her worry about ninjas becoming useless in peace time, but her attitude was still a bit much to handle. The way Shikamaru turned her fake desertion into a way to get inside the gates was smart and it really showed off his leadership skills

I was getting so frustrated with Soku and her constant complaining about the new era of peace, she was just being reckless for no reason and then she went and killed Shikamaru but the reveal at the end changed everything for me and it makes sense why he chose her for this mission even if she is still loose cannon
