I am so tired of these random flashbacks in the middle of a war and I just want to see the actual fight and not hanabi watching her sister train

the animation during the sparring match between hinata and hanabi was surprisingly smooth and it looks better than a lot of the actual war episodes

neji was such a jerk back then and seeing hiashi use the curse seal on him during that training session really reminded me how messed up their family system is

That shopkeeper's harshness, just throwing the mask at little Naruto, still makes me so frustrated; I can't imagine how much that kind of casual dismissal would weigh on a lonely kid. And seriously, seeing how the Hyuga clan treats their own, especially with all that rigid tradition, just feels equally messed up to me, making me wonder if they'll ever truly break free from those expectations.

That whole sister bond backstory popping up *right* in the middle of the raging war really threw me off, even if it did tug at my heartstrings. I just kept wondering why they'd drop such a touching, personal story when the world's literally ending; it felt so out of place and kinda frustrating, honestly.

Ugh, those Hyuga elders are just the absolute worst, aren't they? Kicking out a child just because she showed some genuine human emotion, that's so messed up and completely misses the point of family. It honestly makes me wonder how many times they've done stuff like this before, and it just makes me so mad for Hinata and Neji.

That cursed seal still gets under my skin whenever I see Neji fighting it, because it's just so messed up how the Hyuga branch family was treated. I still feel a deep frustration for him, realizing anew how much that control over his destiny from birth must have twisted his view of fate early on.

Ugh, my stomach just dropped watching Hinata lose on purpose like that, knowing it was because she literally couldn't bring herself to hurt Hanabi. It’s so messed up that her kindness, which is honestly one of her biggest strengths, got twisted into a reason for her to be disowned by the clan for being 'weak.' I just wanted to reach into the screen and give her a hug, she deserved so much better.

The sparring match between the sisters really blew me away with its animation quality, like, seriously, I wasn't expecting it to look that good. It just makes me so frustrated thinking about all the other big battles we've seen in this war arc that totally didn't get this level of detail, you know?

Hanabi really got to me this episode, seeing her push herself so hard. I couldn't help but feel for her, knowing she carries all that weight from the Hyuga clan, especially with Hinata's past. It makes me wonder if she's always felt like she had to compensate for her sister's early struggles.

Ugh, I can't believe they actually paused the literal war for two whole episodes of childhood flashbacks; it's just the worst timing ever and honestly, it pulls me right out of the intense moment. I get wanting to give us backstory, but right now?

I was really struck by Hanabi watching Naruto from a distance, realizing just how much he'd changed Hinata for the better. It honestly made me reflect on how far Hinata has come, and seeing that bridge form between Hanabi and Naruto felt so important, like the whole Hyuga clan's finally coming around.

Ugh, I was so mad watching Hiashi treat Hinata like that, just because she's too good-hearted to actually hurt Hanabi. It really made me question if the Hyuga clan's traditions are just straight-up cruel, like, does he even care about her at all?

I just wanted to reach in and tell Hiashi to chill out with Hanabi, it's so messed up how he pushed her to be cold because he thought Hinata was too kind. You can really see how much that pressure affected both sisters, and it makes me wonder what kind of parent he was to Hinata when she was even younger.

I was actually super impressed by how crisp the Gentle Fist looked here, especially since it's just a side story focusing on Hanabi. It kinda made me wish we saw more of her fighting style in the main plot, you know?

I actually thought it was super neat how they showed us the original series stuff through a little kid's eyes; seeing all those big moments from back then from a completely different angle really made me appreciate the Hyuga clan a lot more. It honestly made me wonder what other background characters were thinking during all that chaos too.

Hanabi finally getting how strong Hinata really is, but in a totally different way, was a huge moment for me. I bet seeing her sister's quiet resolve made her completely rethink all those harsh judgments she used to have, especially since it's not the kind of strength their clan usually praises.

It really got me thinking about Hanabi's dedication; she's pushing herself so hard to be the perfect heir while Hinata's off doing her own thing, and it just makes me understand their family dynamic way better. I bet Hanabi feels a lot of pressure, and that contrast actually makes their sister bond feel super genuine.

I admit, I kinda rolled my eyes at how they used a filler to dive into all the Hyuga family politics, it just felt a bit out of nowhere after everything else. But then Hinata and Hanabi’s fight was so incredibly well done, I couldn't help but feel invested in their conflict and how much they've both grown.

It's genuinely sweet how Hanabi admires Hinata's strength, but honestly, I just get so mad seeing their dad treat Hinata like a failure because she's kind; he completely misses that her compassion is a huge part of what makes her so resilient.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 389 lands deep in a stretch of filler content interrupting the Fourth Great Ninja War arc, following Episode 388's flashback into Gaara's past and his bond with Naruto. This installment shifts focus to the Hyūga household and directly sets up Episode 390, 'Hanabi's Decision,' which continues exploring Hanabi's journey within the clan's rigid hierarchy.
