Sai showing subtly his personality and his background. More mysterious and no clear context.

Yamato turning into Sasori using his wood style was such a weird trick and you could tell the team was nowhere near ready to work together yet

I really want to punch Sai in the face for what he said about Sasuke and Naruto is totally right to be mad at him

Sai just leaving Naruto behind to finish the mission alone shows how broken his mindset is and it makes the original team 7 bond look even better

yamato using those creepy eyes to get naruto in line is so funny and i did not expect the wood style to look that cool during the training session

naruto staying loyal to sasuke even when sai keeps poking at him shows why he is such a good friend and yamato has his work cut out for him

i am already so tired of sai and his weird fake smile and his comments about sasuke were way out of line for someone who just joined the squad

I actually liked seeing Yamato use his wood style during the simulation, and the way he uses wood clones for the training was really interesting to see

sai is being so rude about sasuke and naruto losing his cool over it makes sense because they barely know this guy

I was genuinely unnerved by Sai's smile – it wasn't just creepy, it felt utterly fake, like he was putting on a show. His cold analysis of Naruto's feelings really bothered me; I'm worried about what he's planning, especially since my boy Naruto is so transparent with his emotions.

Ugh, the way Sai just casually talked down about Sasuke really got under my skin, especially since he doesn't seem to grasp the depth of Naruto's feelings. His constant fake smiles just add to the whole unnerving vibe, making me wonder what he's really thinking or if he even has genuine emotions.

Those training sequences really had me scratching my head this episode; I mean, the character designs looked so off and the movements were super stiff, which just took me right out of the intensity of their grind. I was genuinely bummed because I wanted to feel their progress and dedication, but my eyes just kept snagging on the weird animation.

I loved how Yamato went all out with that disguise to mess with the kids; it totally caught me off guard and was pretty funny. It's always awesome to see his wood style in action, even if I was a little bummed the animation felt a bit shaky this time around.

Gosh, I genuinely felt so bad for Yamato trying to wrangle Naruto and Sai in this episode; those two were constantly at each other's throats about Sasuke, which honestly just highlighted how desperately the team needed Kakashi's calming presence. It's like Sai *knows* how to push Naruto's buttons, even if he doesn't fully get why it hurts, but at least that simulation finally forced them to confront how dysfunctional they'd become.

Sai saying he had no feelings was one thing, but then calling Sasuke a traitor right to Naruto's face? I could *feel* Naruto's rage bubbling up, like a physical shockwave, and it made me so frustrated that Sai just didn't get how deep that pain goes for him, especially after everything he's sacrificed.

Sai's smug face during that simulation really got under my skin, especially seeing how useless he and Naruto were together; I'm honestly starting to doubt if they can actually pull off this rescue mission for Sasuke if they can't even get past a simple training exercise.

I swear, Sakura trying to be the sensible one when Sai's just standing there with that unnerving fake smile always gets me; it's like he's deliberately trying to push her buttons without even knowing it, making her even more exasperated.

The fight sequences here were just so jarring; my focus kept breaking because of how clunky the animation felt, especially when Naruto usually delivers such fluid, high-stakes battles that keep me on the edge of my seat. It kinda cheapened what should've been an intense moment, honestly.

Yamato really had his work cut out for him trying to manage Naruto and Sakura, but that fake mission was a stroke of genius; I bet he knew exactly how to redirect their energy because he'd probably seen similar antics from Kakashi and Obito back in the day. It made me realize he's not just a stand-in, he's actually pretty skilled at this whole leadership thing, even with Team 7's chaotic dynamic.

Ugh, Sai just knows how to get under Naruto's skin, doesn't he? It's so frustrating watching him constantly bait Naruto with those comments about Sasuke, like he's deliberately trying to mess with their bond. I just wish Naruto wouldn't fall for it every single time, even though I totally get why he does.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the rocky formation of the new Team Kakashi with Sai and Yamato replacing Sasuke and Kakashi, this episode addresses the elephant in the room: these shinobi don't yet trust each other. 'Simulation' functions as a critical bridge between the team's initial growing pains and the high-stakes Tenchi Bridge mission that kicks off in the following episode. Skip this and you'll miss the context that makes the upcoming confrontation land with full weight.
