I think the showcase of Naruto and Sakuras development over 3 years is very refreshing for us as the viewers.

It shows how much they have grown and the way they are able to challenge Kakashi to a high level

Naruto and Sakura showing their improvement in fighting, very satisfying to see. The ten thousand years of death is very funny knowing Kakashi did it to Naruto back then. At the end, Gaara facing Deidara is very exciting part.

Gaara sensed Deidara before he even landed and seeing the sand move on its own was such a tense way to start this encounter

Naruto's clever use of a shadow clone to launch himself felt like such a huge moment of growth for him, and I was genuinely surprised by his quick thinking in that intense fight. It really shows me he's not just relying on brute force anymore, but evolving into a smarter ninja.

Jiraiya looked absolutely terrified when he saw Sakura shatter the ground because he knows exactly how scary Tsunade is and now there are two of them

I still can't get over Sakura just obliterating the ground with one punch because she finally looks like a threat and it made Kakashi actually look scared for a second

Deidara casually flying over the Sand Village on a clay bird makes the Akatsuki feel much more dangerous than any villain we have seen so far

That vision of Sasuke bleeding out really got to me because it shows she still has that one huge weakness despite all her new strength, and then seeing Gaara just standing there waiting for Deidara on the roof was the coolest way to end things and I can tell this fight is going to be massive for the Hidden Sand Village

The contrast between the sunny training in the Leaf and the dark, silent infiltration of the Sand Village made the ending with Gaara feel ominous

Those exploding clay spiders taking out the guards caught me off guard because the Akatsuki entrance into the series feels so much heavier than anything else

Kakashi putting his book away to focus on the fight says everything about how much Naruto and Sakura have actually improved over the time skip

Using a clone to dodge that finger technique was the smartest thing Naruto has done yet and it shows he finally learned from his old mistakes

Jiraiya looked absolutely terrified when he saw Sakura crack the ground like that and it was so funny seeing him realize she inherited all of Tsunade's temper and power

The music when the Akatsuki showed up at the gate was so ominous and Sasori just standing there in that weird puppet shell makes him look absolutely terrifying compared to Deidara

Sakura seeing that vision of Sasuke was a gut punch, but it was cool to see her snap out of it and help Naruto get back into the fight against Kakashi.

I was smiling so much when Naruto summoned that massive swarm of clones because it forced Kakashi to actually get serious and put away his book for the rest of the battle

You can tell Sakura really worked hard on her chakra control and seeing her pinpoint Kakashi underground before nuking the entire area was such a satisfying moment

Deidara is such a weirdo talking about his art and those clay spiders on the guards heads was such a brutal way to start the infiltration

I actually realized how much Naruto learned from the first series when he countered that thousand years of death trick. It was so funny seeing Kakashi get caught off guard like that, but then the mood shifted so fast when the scene cut to the Sand Village. Deidara looks like he will be a massive problem for Gaara.

Gaara looked like a total boss standing on that roof and he really seems like a proper leader now instead of just a weapon of war

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following episode 2's introduction of the Akatsuki threat, this episode pivots inward to establish Naruto and Sakura's combat readiness — a necessary beat before the story escalates. It serves as the final character-grounding moment before episode 4, 'The Jinchuriki of the Sand,' shifts the focus to Sunagakure and the larger conflict. Positioned early in a 500-episode run, this is foundational setup that pays dividends throughout the series.
