I thought I was getting some deep lore about Rin but then they just throw in this Ran character who looks just like her and expect me to care, it feels like such a reach to fill time, and the fact that the Seven Ninja Swordsmen were defeated so easily by two guys just makes the legendary group look like a joke

i really could not get over how weird young kakashi and guy sounded in that flashback and it ruined the whole atmosphere for me since they sounded like girls instead of actual boys

i actually liked seeing guy and kakashi use those team combos against the swordsmen even if the rest of the episode was just filler fluff that didn't matter

why did they make the seven ninja swordsmen look so weak because jinpachi and kushimaru were basically just punching bags for kakashi and guy despite their reputation

seeing kakashi with a three tomoe sharingan while rin was still standing right there in the flashback is just sloppy writing and shows they don't care about the lore

the way kakashi and guy handled that fight while kakashi was blinded showed their chemistry but the animation during the actual combat felt stiff and cheap

Who knew a filler episode could feel so good? I cheered out loud when Kakashi and Guy started fighting, their teamwork was just as incredible and perfectly in sync as I remembered from their earlier missions. It just makes me miss seeing them kick butt together more often, and I just love how effortlessly they understand each other.

Kakashi and Guy just casually handling the Seven Ninja Swordsmen was actually pretty disappointing for me; I mean, these are supposed to be legendary figures, but the fight just dragged on and made them look so weak. It really kinda undercut their whole feared reputation when the animation made them seem like glorified fodder.

I absolutely loved seeing Kakashi and Guy’s sick combo; it just reminded me how far their friendship has come. But then, the flashback to their younger selves and those super high-pitched voices? Man, I just couldn’t get past it, it really took me out of the moment and made it hard to focus on their past dynamic.

Jinpachi and Kushimaru felt like such a huge letdown this episode; honestly, I was expecting so much more from legendary swordsmen and it left me wondering if they were even trying. Then the animation during Kakashi and Guy's fight was so janky it completely pulled me out of the action, which was super frustrating. But what really threw me was that random Ran flashback; it made me wonder if the show had forgotten all about Rin and her deep connection to Kakashi, which seemed like a huge oversight.

Ugh, the animation for most of that fight was just rough, it really pulled me out of it. Honestly, I was just so glad when Kakashi and Guy were doing their blind coordination thing because that part was actually pretty cool.

Kakashi and Guy fighting together again gave me that familiar rush of excitement, it’s always awesome when they finally get to show off their teamwork. However, I can't shake the feeling of how utterly bland those Seven Ninja Swordsmen were, and the terrible animation during their clashes completely pulled me out of any tension I might have felt.

It was genuinely jarring to see the legendary swordsmen of the mist go down so quickly against Kakashi and Guy, especially after all the build-up I'd heard about them. I almost felt cheated that their fights weren't more of a challenge, and the stiff animation didn't help me buy them as the fearsome threats they were supposed to be.

Kakashi's reaction to Ran popping up, looking so much like Rin, totally had me worried for him, like, how does he even begin to process that? Then those ridiculously high-pitched voices for young Kakashi and Guy just utterly ruined the moment for me, pulling me out of the entire flashback with a jolt.

I seriously burst out laughing during the flashback when young Kakashi and Guy sounded so squeaky, it was honestly pretty jarring! Like, I know they were kids, but I just can't imagine them with those voices after hearing them for so long as the iconic jounin we know.

Ugh, I seriously did a double-take when that flashback girl, Ran, popped up looking exactly like Rin; it just makes me question the whole established canon timeline in my head, and for a random filler story no less. It's a bit frustrating how it muddies things, especially considering how crucial Rin is to the actual plot.

Kakashi, fighting blind but still perfectly in sync with Guy, totally proved to me just how deep their trust runs after all these years. But then, my excitement just deflated a little with the noticeably janky animation during that crucial battle; it felt like a weird visual misstep that kept me from fully appreciating their incredible teamwork.

Ugh, I was so disappointed with this episode because the fight scenes seriously looked like they had zero budget, just simplified drawings sliding across a plain green background. It's frustrating when they've shown us such incredible animation before, so this felt like a real letdown.

I actually thought it was super cool to see Guy with the red scarf from the manga, that was a nice touch! But man, even with that, I couldn't help but notice how much the animation quality felt like it dropped compared to the canon stuff; it really pulled me out of it.

Did anyone else get pulled out of that awesome flashback to young Kakashi and Guy? I was genuinely so hyped to see them again, but their new high-pitched voices totally threw me off, sounding way too different from how they used to sound when they were actually kids in earlier episodes. It just felt so jarring and honestly made it hard for me to immerse myself in their past.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 288 sits within a stretch of filler content during the broader Fourth Shinobi World War arc, following Episode 287's individual skirmishes against the reanimated Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. This installment shifts from solo confrontations to a team-focused battle featuring Kakashi and Guy, maintaining the war's backdrop without advancing the central storyline. It directly sets up Episode 289, 'The Lightning Blade: Ameyuri Ringo!,' which continues the Swordsmen encounters with another intense clash.
