The timing for this filler is pretty bad with the war arc right there, but those moments where they show what Sasuke was actually thinking during their old fights are pretty heavy

The fight at the Valley of the End still feels heavy even if it is a recap and seeing Naruto reach out for Sasuke always hurts

Naruto just wants his friend back and seeing these flashbacks only makes the current situation feel more depressing

I think the reanimated scenes look so smooth and seeing the old Valley of the End fight again with this updated art style really made my day

Waiting for the war to begin is a struggle when you get these flashbacks instead but at least the emotional stuff with Naruto and Sasuke is handled well

It is another filler episode right before the war starts but seeing the contrast in their monologues during that old fight was a nice touch

Sasuke looks so much more tragic now. You see how much he was actually overthinking things back then and Naruto was doing the exact same thing

I am tired of all the stalling but I did appreciate seeing Sasuke's perspective during the hospital fight because it showed how deep his darkness goes

The way they kept their feelings secret on that roof changed how that whole scene feels now and it makes their rivalry seem way more misunderstood

I know everyone is just waiting for the war to actually start, but those extra scenes of them on the rooftop really got to me. It is so sad seeing that Naruto and Sasuke both felt like the one who was lagging behind while the other looked so strong and unreachable. They were basically going through the same struggle at the same time

I think hearing those internal thoughts on the roof made that whole fight hurt even more and it really sucks how they just couldn't talk to each other

Sasuke’s silent struggle on that rooftop, paired with Naruto’s own feelings of inadequacy, just makes me wonder if they both truly understood the other’s pain back then. It’s infuriating how such a deeply personal and shared insecurity escalated into their entire, seemingly unavoidable, war.

Why did so much of this episode just feel like a recap? I was getting so bored seeing stuff I'd already watched, but then they showed the founder statues and that shot was genuinely so sick it kinda made me forget my annoyance for a second.

Those new camera angles during the transformations? Whoa, I didn't expect to feel that surge of excitement, making the fight choreography seem so much more intense and fluid than I remembered from the original series. It's like they finally figured out how to make those power-ups resonate deep in my gut, and I'm completely here for it.

When Sasuke finally just stood there, after everything, and walked away from that headband, I felt a knot tighten in my stomach – it was like *this* was the moment he truly severed ties with Konoha, and my gut just sank thinking about what that meant for Naruto's promise.

Sasuke saying he was never a friend and just cuts bonds really messed with me, like, how could he be so completely heartless after everything? I just kept thinking about all the promises and all Naruto's efforts, and it felt like such a brutal dismissal of their entire history.

Okay, so seeing that old fight with the new animation was kinda cool, even if the music wasn't hitting like it did before; it totally messed with my vibe for such an important moment. I'm just relieved we're finally done with all those recap episodes though, seriously, because now the war can actually get going again and I'm ready for the real action.

When the Valley of the End fight finally started, I braced myself for the intense, blow-by-blow battle I'd been waiting for, only for it to feel like a blur. I just kept thinking, 'that's it?' as it rushed through, leaving me wishing they had given Sasuke and Naruto's rivalry the proper screen time it deserved.

Sasuke's rage felt even more tragic when they cut to those Itachi flashbacks during his fight with Naruto; it just made me understand the depth of his pain, how every move he makes is still so rooted in that twisted love and betrayal. I can't imagine living with that kind of history, especially when he's trying to cut down the only person left who truly cares.

I gotta say, even though this was just a recap episode, seeing that final Rasengan and Chidori clashing looked super clean, and it totally brought back all the hype from when Naruto and Sasuke first used those moves against each other. It's kinda wild how those old scenes still get me so pumped up.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at episode 260 of 500, 'Parting' arrives as the series gears up for the massive Fourth Great Ninja War arc, using this recap to refocus the audience on the Naruto-Sasuke dynamic that drives everything forward. It follows 'Rift,' which escalated tensions between the two, and feeds directly into 'For My Friend,' where the consequences of their fractured bond continue to ripple outward. Think of it as an emotional checkpoint — the series making sure you feel the full weight of this rivalry before the stakes climb even higher.
