I was actually pretty surprised by how intense Naruto's confrontation with his dark self was at the waterfall; it felt like he wasn't just fighting a shadow, but all the resentment and loneliness he’s carried since childhood finally given a voice. My heart went out to him seeing how much courage it took just to acknowledge those painful feelings he usually buries.
