Iruka's flashback to his own loneliness after losing his parents really twisted my gut, especially when he saw how he was basically doing the same thing to Naruto. It made me understand on a deeper level why their connection felt so solid, like he finally saw a reflection of his younger, suffering self in Naruto and couldn't bear it.
