I felt sick seeing those Leaf ninja kill Nagatos parents right in front of him during the war

Yahiko jumping on that kunai to save Konan is just too much to handle and Nagato losing it right after was heavy

Danzo and Hanzo are actually the worst for what they did to those kids and seeing them ruin everything was infuriating

Ugh, Hanzo using Konan as a hostage was such a cheap move, I just couldn't believe he'd stoop that low. Seeing Yahiko die like that, it just crushes me to think of all the hope and dreams that got snuffed out right then and there.

Ugh, that flashback with the bread and the dog was just brutal, and seeing how much they suffered during the war honestly made me feel so bad for them. It really hit me how much that past trauma shaped who they became.

When Nagato started talking, I was honestly bracing myself for Naruto to just interrupt and start yelling like he used to, so seeing him genuinely listen and take it all in really threw me for a loop. It's such a huge change from the impulsive kid who chased after Sasuke without a second thought, and it makes me think he's finally grasping the weight of the ninja world.

Danzo really showed his true colors setting up that ambush, I mean, I was honestly pretty disgusted by his actions. It makes me wonder if he truly is the entire reason the Akatsuki became such ruthless killers, and honestly, it wouldn't surprise me given everything else he's done.

It's just so messed up how Nagato got caught in Danzo's trap; my gut reaction was pure anger at how easily their dreams were shattered. Seeing him have to choose between Yahiko and Konan made me realize the kind of inescapable pain that could drive someone to such extreme measures, which is honestly terrifying.

Jiraiya's genuine pride in Nagato here is just so heartbreaking to witness; I mean, he put his whole soul into guiding him, truly believing in that kid's potential. It makes me sick to think how twisted that dream became, culminating in such a tragic fight after all the love and effort he poured into him.

I felt so bad seeing Nagato carrying Yahiko with his burnt legs, it was just a really heartbreaking moment and made me wonder how much more they could even take at that point.

My stomach totally dropped when I saw Danzo lurking in the shadows with Hanzo, ugh. I just *knew* whatever they were cooking up was gonna be bad news, because honestly, doesn't that guy just mess up everything good he gets his hands on?

I can't believe Yahiko actually sacrificed himself like that for Konan, it was so intense, and then watching Nagato just completely lose it afterwards really showed me how much he cared for both of them.

When Nagato's backstory showed his parents dying at the hands of Leaf shinobi, my jaw dropped; that betrayal explains so much about his deep-seated desire for a peace born from pain. I'm left wondering if any child could truly escape that kind of tragedy without their spirit being completely shattered.

Yahiko's sacrifice for Konan, jumping onto Jiraiya's kunai, was such a pivotal, heartbreaking moment for me; I mean, you could practically see the exact instant the Akatsuki's future twisted into something truly dark. It really drove home how easily good intentions can lead to such a destructive cycle of hatred, and that just felt incredibly real and sad.

i never realized just how much nagato lost until hearing about danzo and hanzo's cruel betrayal, which made yahiko's death absolutely devastating and honestly, i feel a knot in my stomach for him. how is naruto even going to process this kind of deep-seated pain and revenge without just fighting, because to me, it feels like this confrontation is more about understanding than winning.

Nagato's face when Hanzo forced his hand, it just gutted me to see him so helpless, and then Yahiko, my goodness, seeing him leap onto that kunai was a complete shock but I completely understood his desperate move to save Konan. I can't even imagine how that moment is going to permanently twist Nagato, setting him on a truly dark path.

Nagato just wanted to survive with his friends, and seeing him as that desperate kid makes me wonder how he could become the Pain who destroyed Konoha. It's a tough pill to swallow, knowing his motives stemmed from such raw loss, but I can't shake the devastation he brought.

Seriously, my skin was absolutely crawling when those soul dragons started pouring out of the statue, like, what even *is* that power? Seeing Nagato look so utterly hollow afterwards just made me wonder if he ever had a moment's peace or if it was all just an act to hide how broken he really was inside.

When Danzo’s shadow meddling utterly negated Yahiko’s gut-wrenching sacrifice, it really just made my stomach drop, because you realize Pain’s whole path was tragically sealed by that moment. This revelation makes me feel a crushing weight, knowing how much that initial, heartbreaking choice now fuels his current devastation and gives Naruto’s impending clash a whole new, intensely personal layer of sorrow.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Directly following 'Meeting,' where Nagato begins telling his story to Naruto face-to-face, episode 173 deepens that confession by revealing the formative tragedies behind Pain's ideology. It serves as the emotional core of the Pain arc's endgame, bridging the physical battle that preceded it with the philosophical confrontation still to come. The next episode, 'Tale of Naruto Uzumaki,' shifts focus to Naruto's answer — making this installment the critical setup for the arc's resolution.
