I seriously can't get over the fact that Pain, the big bad of the Akatsuki, was one of Jiraiya's students; it just completely twists everything I thought I knew about him. And seeing Konan, who always seemed so grounded, standing right there by his side, makes me wonder what happened to them after Jiraiya left that could make them turn out like this.
