EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off episode eight's more relationship-driven developments around Kanade's complicated bonds with the cast, episode nine deliberately pulls back into lighter territory with its contest-driven structure. As the penultimate episode in a ten-episode season, it serves as a comedic cool-down that still advances character dynamics before episode ten pivots to address the larger implications of Kanade's Absolute Choice predicament and the season's resolution.
