This episode was heartwarming. The OP and ED were great, with the animation, fine visuals and details, and positive foreshadowing of what is yet to happen. The upbringing of Miyo was a Cinderella-like story, maybe much worse, and truly heartbreaking. Kudo and Yurie were way kinder than her own family.

Miyo being treated badly even as a child breaks my heart. Kiyoka is still quite aloof but that's reasonable since they are still trying to get to know each other but he really is far from what the rumors are saying. It's cool that there are some supernatural stuff happening.

Kiyoka is so much different than the rumors said! I love how he noticed Miyo wasn't eating and actually waited for her. Seeing Miyo cry over a simple home-cooked meal was so heart-wrenching. Their journey is starting off so beautifully.

Explores Miyo’s past trauma while slowly building her dynamic with Kiyoka. He still seems distant, but there’s a quiet curiosity toward her. It also shows how her upbringing shaped her into someone reserved and lacking confidence, making her growth feel more noticeable.

Character dynamics deepen gorgeously! Kiyoka's harshness gradually softens through small moments. Miyo's traumatic memories add heartbreaking context. His investigation shows he genuinely cares. Growing connection feels earned and genuine.

Kiyoka is actually soft-hearted! You can see that in the breakfast scene. The tension during the breakfast scene is so real. But seeing Kiyoka’s internal walls start to crumble is so satisfying!! The supernatural lore starts to deepen.

A quiet yet emotionally powerful episode that explores trauma through subtle character interactions. Beneath polite words and formal behavior lies deep insecurity and past suffering. As misunderstandings surface, small gestures begin to build fragile trust, marking the first step

Mio is just starting to get to know Kiyoka, and there’s a bit of tragedy in Mio’s life which is really heartbreaking. It starts off a bit slow, with some conflict in the middle, but you can’t skip it because it’s an important part of the plot

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 2 builds directly on the awkward first encounter from Episode 1, transitioning from setup into the slow, trust-building phase that defines the early stretch of this 12-episode season. This is foundational character work — Miyo and Kiyoka's relationship needs this groundwork before the fantasy elements and larger conflicts escalate in later episodes. Think of this as the emotional anchor point that everything ahead will be measured against.
