Synopsis
The world has been engulfed in a desperate, three-decade-long war against the BETA—an alien species that invaded the planet in 1973. Amid this chaos, a high school student named Takeru Shirogane suddenly wakes up from a terrifying nightmare where he sees mankind in utter defeat. Soon after, he realizes that his dream was nothing more than the recollections of his life in an alternative universe. In those memories, the Alternative V project is implemented, sending hundreds of thousands of people into space as a last resort to preserve humanity, while leaving the remaining billion on Earth to suffer a cruel fate. Yearning to change this grim future, Takeru joins a military base in Yokohama, which happens to be his former high school. There, he manages to convince the base's vice-commander and leader of the Alternative IV project, Professor Yuuko Kouzuki, to prevent Alternative V from happening. To ensure the success of Alternative IV, Takeru must pilot the gigantic humanoid machines Tactical Surface Fighters (TSF) alongside his fellow cadets. However, he has only two months to complete his training and exploit his partial knowledge of the future—lest the ensuing tragedy take place.

The final episode was beautifully done and incredibly emotional. Every scene carried so much weight, and you could genuinely feel what each character emotions. Although it wasn’t filled with nonstop battle scenes, it didn’t need to be. The story was so well written and the emotional moments were more than enough to make the finale memorable. It brought the characters’ journeys to a satisfying conclusion and left a lasting impression on me. I truly enjoyed watching it from beginning to end.
This episode was incredibly emotional. I really enjoyed it even though it didn’t have many battle scenes. The emotional dialogue between the characters was more than enough to keep me engaged.
This episode really gives me a mix of emotion, I’m getting a little frustrated because the situation just keeps getting worse, yet they spend so much screen time for the dispute between characters.
I really liked the combination of the battle scenes and BGM in this episode. And the revelation about the relationship between certain characters.l is very intriguing.
The story is really starting to escalate, and the atmosphere has become much more tense and emotional. Even so, they can’t afford to let their emotions affect them. Despite their weaknesses, I still see them as strong because they keep pushing forward and refuse to let their feelings get the better of them.
This episode was mostly focused on the characters explaining and having conversations with one another. Even so, it was still good because it provided additional information that helped develop the story.
Determination that’s exactly what the characters showed in this episode. It also made me even more curious about how the story will unfold.
The mock battle had a tense atmosphere. It completely held my attention and kept me engaged throughout the entire episode. The action, strategy, and intensity made it exciting to watch. This was definitely one of the most entertaining episodes so far.
I’m even more curious now about who Kasumi really is. The episode was good, and it made me even more interested in what will happen next because the events are starting to move much faster due to the changes he’s making.
I honestly thought this episode was going to lead into a battle scene, but it turned out differently than I expected. Even so, it feels like the story is building up to something much bigger.
Having knowledge of the future is such a huge advantage. I’m really hoping they’ll be able to alter the course of events and create a better outcome than the one they’re trying to prevent.
It was a good start. Like many other series, the first episode explains the origin of what happened. I also liked that it included a battle scene right away, which made the episode more appealing.
Season one fisished with a superb and emotional finish, the final scene of clashing ideology left every member of the squad shook and once again renew their convictions. Pacing, writing, animation and every aspect of grading are through the roofs. I love Muv-Luv.
Another dialogue-heavy episode, but this time the emotional baggage that comes with it are extremely touching. As a penultimate episode for the first season, episode 11 is a mixed bag of ideology and gut wrench of a sudden betrayal. 9/10.
God, I cannot stop gushing over how good the show writing is when it comes to political tension and military organization. The bitterness between US and Japan is a very realistic take and somewhat relateable to our own history. As a mecha and military stuff nerd, I enjoyed this episode the most.
The most tense and action filled episode so far as the squad mission objective took a drastic change when they encountered a certain individual. Story writing is superb, the military aspect of this episode really gave me a sweet time enjoying it. Animation is also took a big leap, animating all kinds of mech with smooth fluidity.
This is one of the reason I love Muv-Luv, they present and wrap the political tension of the Japan, US and UN and other factions as realistic as possible, making the story really engaging and relateable to the audience. Pace starts to pick up and tension setted up nicely, 7.5/10.
I am still processing that final scene.
It is honestly gut wrenching.
The intensity of episode ten is honestly overwhelming as Takeru reaches his absolute breaking point.
