A heavy episode. I didn't really like how things turned out, but the battle strategy was pretty good. As expected from the space rats, as Tekkadan called themselves. The pacing was solid too—definitely not an episode to miss.

Brace yourself for this one, the psychological toll of this battle is immense. It’s less about cool robot action and more about the tragic reality of marginalized kids being forced to fight each other by a broken system. Incredibly heavy tone.

Episode Context

Directly following the gut-punch revelations of Episode 11 ('Human Debris'), this episode escalates Tekkadan's confrontation with the Brewers into a full strategic engagement, placing Akihiro's personal conflict at the center. Sitting at the exact midpoint of the 25-episode season, it functions as the critical bridge between buildup and payoff. The aftermath will be dealt with in Episode 13 ('Funeral Rites'), a title that makes clear the stakes being established here carry real consequences.
