An unbelievably cruel and sad ending to what is undoubtedly the cleanest crystallization of the curiosities and themes of Gundam. The ability to make a pointless, stupid fight based on miscommunication and delayed response SO compelling and tragic is truly a feat.

Episode Context

As the sixth and final episode, this is where every thread. Al's naive fascination with war, Bernie's desperate mission, and Chris's unknowing entanglement, converges with full emotional force. Episode 5's escalation and the weight of irreversible decisions made by Bernie drive directly into this conclusion, which exists not to resolve conflict neatly but to confront its cost. The entire six-episode OVA has been building precisely to this moment, making it both the payoff and the point of the entire series.
