Mizugi Kanojo The Animation
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Getting in shape is Mizuho's goal, and her boyfriend Hiro — who happens to work at a pool — offers to coach her after hours. Their swimming lessons go about as far off-script as you'd expect, and that's basically the whole premise. Adapted from a manga by studio T-Rex, this four-episode OVA from 2009 keeps things light and uncomplicated. There's no dramatic backstory, no conflict to resolve — just a couple of interconnected stories about young couples in intimate situations. The second storyline follows Takuya and his clumsy neighbor Sayaka, who keeps finding herself in awkward proximity to him. Neither story takes itself seriously, which is honestly the right call. The aquatic setting gives it a slightly different atmosphere compared to most entries in the genre — poolside lighting, swimsuits, the general summer vibe. Animation quality for its era holds up reasonably well, with care put into character expressions and movement. If you've watched Resort Boin or Kanojo x Kanojo x Kanojo and enjoyed that breezy, low-stakes romantic format, this sits comfortably in the same category. It's not trying to be anything other than what it is: a short, lighthearted adult OVA with a specific aesthetic and a clear audience. Four episodes, each relatively self-contained, so it doesn't ask much of your time. If that setup sounds appealing and you're already a fan of the genre, it's a reasonable way to spend an afternoon.
