Episode Context

Coming off the two-part 'Village of the Fighting Fish' arc, the series resets with a fresh storyline rather than carrying direct plot momentum, a structural pattern consistent with its anthology-adjacent approach. This episode functions as the first half of a two-parter, deliberately withholding resolution and using its runtime to establish Towa's backstory and psychological stakes. 'Mermaid Forest (Part II)' follows directly, where the threads introduced here are expected to unravel fully.
