the atmosphere in this underground facility is so suffocating, and the way the doctor just calmly explains his project to chiharu while she is trapped makes your skin crawl

it is hard for me to watch the way he treats those sisters like lab experiments and the story moves a bit slow but the art style is pretty unique for a story about sisters being held captive

you can tell this was made in a different era by those sharp character designs and how gloomy the underground lab feels and mary marceau is definitely going to have a rough time

the way the scientist breaks down his victims through pure psychological pressure is way more disturbing than the actual scenes and it gives off a massive early 2000s feeling like bible black

i really felt the dread when chisato first woke up in that sterile basement room and realized there was no way out because that doctor is a total creep

seeing the hope drain from her eyes while he explained the process was the most brutal thing in the whole episode

those secret projects he mentioned at the end are probably going to be way worse than the regular sales

The introduction to the facility dragged for a bit, but the actual transformation scenes were surprisingly fluid and well animated for this kind of production.

whoever did the sound design for the machines in the lab deserves a raise and it made the whole scene feel way more grounded

the contrast between the clean white lab and the absolute depravity happening in the tanks stuck with me all night

that monster in white name makes so much sense now after seeing him work on those poor women

you can tell this is going to be dark because that underground lab looks so clinical and creepy

I really did not know what to expect going into this one, but the atmosphere in that basement lab is genuinely suffocating and the scientist gives off such a terrifying vibe. Seeing the girls get processed like parts on an assembly line is definitely a choice for the first episode, and it makes me wonder how far they are going to push it.

I think that doctor guy is absolutely unhinged and the way he treated the first girl was just plain nasty

the art style for the transformations is actually pretty detailed and the screaming was a lot to handle

the medical equipment detail made the whole transformation process feel way more real and gritty for me

watching mami try to escape was so desperate, and the doctor just laughs while he starts the transformation sequence

I think the atmosphere in that basement is what really sells the horror because you can feel how trapped Mami is from the second she wakes up in that chair, and the scientist is such a creep for explaining his process while he works on her, which made my skin crawl but the old school hand drawn animation style really fits this kind of dark story

the underground lab setting feels so suffocating and the girls trapped in those pods looked like they had no hope left

that scientist is actually terrifying and the way he looks at Mami like she is a piece of meat is so unsettling

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the first of two episodes, 'The Monster in White' carries the full weight of series setup — introducing the scientist antagonist, the underground facility, and the core dynamic that defines the narrative. Nothing precedes it. It leads directly into the second and final episode, 'Withering Purity,' which is expected to follow the consequences of what is initiated here.
