This episode smartly shifts from victory to the harsh reality of the next level. Inori’s technical gaps, the jump-coach introduction, and the growing pressure toward All-Japans make the preparation arc feel intense and grounded.

This one humbles you real quick. It reminds you that talent alone is not enough and there are still clear gaps to overcome. The training direction introduced here feels like a turning point.

The depiction of how intense these competitions tend to be is so accurate, and giving it a comedic edge with classic anime exaggerations fit really well to lighten the mood. And casting Tanjiro's voice actor as the new coach? Perfect! Now Inori has two best boys as support!

The story writing is well-structured. Especially when dropping niche information about the skating industry, they don't make it sound boring to listen to as the visuals help keep it interesting.

The animation and art design really shine even in scenes that aren't intense. And the dialogue and expressions during comedy scenes are effortlessly funny! Haven't laughed like this in a while 😆

When Kakeru Uobuchi arrives with that harness of his ... IDK man, at first I thought this made sense, but on a rewatch, it's so out of pocket.

The tension here is built before she even starts skating.
You can feel it in how long she pauses at the rink entrance.
Then once she pushes off, the confidence shift is immediate.

This Medalist ep is a W! Ppl need to get that adaptations are their own thing; Inori's struggles and new characters totally work, it's an awesome interpretation. 🔥

Tsukasa's mentor origin story and commitment to Inori's growth is pure sensei wisdom, so much potential for a peak training arc, but since no one's seen it yet, my verdict is neutral af 🤷‍♀️

Tsukasa's past intel confirmed, strengthening his resolve for the coming battles, while Inori prepares for new skirmishes to advance her campaign ⚔️ no major losses, no grand victories yet.
