Synopsis
In the monster-overrun streets of late 20th century Tokyo, pretty much the only thing standing between humanity and complete supernatural chaos is a demon hunter named Mitsurugi and his three aides. The setup is pure 90s dark fantasy — think Wicked City or Demon City Shinjuku vibes, where the city feels genuinely threatening and the monsters aren't just background noise. Each of Mitsurugi's companions has a distinct ability, and the dynamic between them is where the show gets interesting. Kuska, for instance, can trap demons inside magical stones, but she gets... attached to what she captures. That tension between teammates adds a wrinkle to what could've just been straightforward monster-bashing. The first major threat is a vampire that gives the whole group a run for their money, and watching the team figure out how to handle it — imperfectly, with internal friction — gives it more personality than you'd expect from a two-episode OVA. If you grew up on Battle Royal High School or similar 90s horror-action OVAs, this scratches that same itch: gritty atmosphere, demon-hunting lore, and the kind of hand-drawn aesthetic that just doesn't exist anymore. It's a short watch at two episodes, so it never overstays its welcome. Worth it if you're in the mood for compact, atmospheric 90s supernatural action with a bit of edge to it.
