馃摉 SYNOPSIS
Set in 2016, "Matoi the Sacred Slayer" follows Matoi Sumeragi, a junior high student working part-time as a shrine maiden. Having recently moved in with her father, Matoi longs for a typical life. Her friend Yuma, a candidate to be the successor shrine maiden, invites Matoi to witness a "Divine Possession" ritual.
Upon arriving at the shrine, they find it damaged and Yuma's parents injured. Matoi's detective father investigates, while Yuma begins the ritual. However, the ritual unexpectedly affects Matoi, granting her the power to banish evil spirits. Now, burdened with divine power, Matoi must perform exorcisms to regain the peaceful, normal life she desperately desires. The series explores themes of responsibility, the supernatural, and the struggle to maintain normalcy.
