ai_hayasaka★★★★☆EP 1The contrast between the clean military uniform and the disgusting things Van Clad is planning makes the whole premise feel way more twisted
Van Clad met his end through betrayal and murder at the hands of his own crew three hundred years ago, defining his final moments. With his dying breath, he swore revenge on the descendants of those responsible. Fast forward to the present, and naval officer Klaus Ainhart stumbles onto Van Clad's tomb, which turns out to be a very bad idea, because Van Clad promptly takes over his body. Here's where it gets interesting: the kingdom Klaus serves was founded by the very bloodline Van Clad wants to destroy. So now this ancient, vengeful pirate is walking around in a young officer's body, with full access to the royal court and a centuries-old grudge to settle. His targets are Princesses Iris and Mireille von Austria, and he's patient enough to play the long game. The setup blends supernatural possession with a maritime historical backdrop, and the two-episode OVA moves quickly once the premise is established. The animation handles both the seafaring atmosphere and the kingdom's environment with solid production quality from Anime Antenna Iinkai, adapted from a visual novel source. If you've watched Conquering the Queen or Kuroinu and appreciated that mix of dark fantasy plotting with adult content, this hits a similar note. Fans of Taimanin Asagi's villain-driven narratives will also find the dynamic between Klaus and Van Clad familiar territory. It's a niche pick, but the revenge framing gives it more narrative backbone than most entries in the genre.

gohan_glory★★★★☆EP 1I have been waiting for this sequel forever and seeing Van Clad back in a new body is really something. The possession scene in the cave was actually pretty well done, and it sets a really grim tone for the rest of the show. I am curious to see how far he goes with ruining the royal bloodline because he seems completely deranged now.
yellow★★☆☆☆EP 1You can really tell how much he hates the navigator from the way he treats the first girl he finds in the palace
kakashi_kage_98★★★★☆EP 1Watching Van Clad use Klaus to start his revenge is pretty dark and that scene in the tomb felt way more intense than the previous seasons
saguaro★★★☆☆EP 1Van Clad is a total menace and seeing him use a high-ranking officer as a puppet to tear down the kingdom from the inside is such a dark concept
leon★★★★☆EP 1Watching the noble Klaus suddenly get that sinister pirate look in his eyes after being possessed made the scene feel way more threatening
violet_evergarden_168★★★☆☆EP 1I finally got to see Van Clad take over Klaus and his face when he realized who the kingdom belonged to was actually kind of scary
yukio_yukimura_490★★★☆☆EP 1It took a while to get to the actual action since they had to set up the whole three hundred year grudge and Klaus status in the military first but it was okay
sephiroth★★★★☆EP 1You really get a sense of how much Van Clad hates the royal family when he starts planning to turn the whole country into a pirate den and the soundtrack during the possession was great
tifa_lockhart_400★★★★☆EP 1I really dug the atmosphere in the beginning when Klaus finds the remains because it felt more like a dark fantasy than just a typical revenge story. Watching him get possessed and immediately start plotting against the kingdom that worships him as a hero was a great way to kick things off, and the art looks sharp so far
pamelas_father_280★★★★☆EP 1It is pretty messed up how Van Clad is using Klaus's own memories to target the women of the kingdom, and that scene in the tomb was creepy
orihime_oracle_103★★★★☆EP 1I actually liked how Klaus changed the second Van Clad took over because seeing a straight-laced officer turn into a monster is exactly what I wanted from this
chrome_crafter_160★★★☆☆EP 1The whole pirate ghost possessing a modern soldier thing feels a bit overplayed and there were moments where the art looked a little off compared to the previous series
sheik_263★★★☆☆EP 1Seeing Van Clad wake up in Klaus body and realize he can basically ruin his enemy legacy from the inside was my favorite part of the introduction
hakuro_honed★★★★☆EP 1You can tell the backstory with the traitorous navigator is just an excuse for the revenge plot and the animation is decent enough but the start felt a bit slow
sakurafan★★★☆☆EP 1The dialogue was so stiff and the way Klaus talks after being possessed just sounds weird plus the first encounter with the maid was boring
tuxedo_mask_393★★★★☆EP 1Syou Fu Kan is still trying to fight fair with his martial arts while everyone else is out here using crazy magic
twili_287★★★☆☆EP 1Nobody actually believes Rou Shin Kai is dead especially with how the opening theme basically gave away that he is still around
shinnosuke_258★★★★☆EP 1There were so many dangling plot threads from the last season that I expected them to be lost, but this episode connected them all so well. Hearing that familiar BGM again while they talked about the Void Junction gave me chills, and Ryouga's transformation was easily the best part of the whole thing. It feels so good to have the real Syou Fu Kan back
sailor_lead_crow★★★★☆EP 1Lin Setsu A acting like he cares even a little bit about Setsu Mu Syou is the biggest shock of the whole episode
