Episode Context

The War Games tournament continues to escalate through its fifth round, and this episode picks up directly in that momentum following Alviss's victory over Hamelin. Jack's battle against Candice is the round's centerpiece here, and its outcome feeds directly into the next major confrontation: Ginta versus Ash. This stretch of episodes represents MÄR's tournament arc hitting a sustained dramatic stride at roughly the midpoint of the series.
