Episode Context

Episode 16 pushed the season to a tense peak with Mao's confrontation with Hakubi and the unsettling consequences of his transformed state. Episode 17 processes that fallout and pivots the central curse mystery toward cat-related folklore and onmyodo lore, introducing fresh investigative threads for Nanoka and Shiraha. Sitting at the midpoint of the back half of the season, this episode functions as a narrative bridge that reorients the series' larger questions while rebuilding momentum for what comes next.
