EPISODE REVIEWS

Episode Context

Episode 12 follows 'Blood Bond,' in which Mao is drawn into a trap by a water-controlling shikigami, and shifts focus from immediate survival toward the identities and history driving that attack. Sitting at the midpoint of the 26-episode season, it marks a transition from reactive threats to deeper investigative territory. The tensions introduced here set the stage for 'Byoki,' the next episode, suggesting the fallout from this water-sorcerer thread will continue to ripple forward.
