EPISODE REVIEWS

Episode Context

As the series opener, this episode carries the full weight of establishing Mao's central premise. Nanoka's connection to Mao and the forces pulling her across time. Nothing precedes it, making every reveal here load-bearing for everything that follows. The next episode, 'Spider Lady,' wastes little time deploying Nanoka and Mao into their first real supernatural confrontation, so this premiere functions as the calm before that escalation.
