Mao

After stumbling through a mysterious portal, high schooler Nanoka finds herself in Japan's Taisho era, where she's saved from a monstrous yokai by a quiet exorcist named Mao. Upon returning to her own time, she realizes the encounter has awakened strange new powers within her. Driven by questions, Nanoka travels back to the past, becoming entangled in Mao's investigation of a series of grisly murders. She soon learns her fate is tied to his: Mao is bound by the curse of a cat demon called Byoki, a curse that also taints his sword, making it lethal for anyone else to wield. But when Mao's life is on the line, Nanoka must risk everything and take up the forbidden blade herself.
