Mahou Shoujo Sae
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Clumsy, timid high school girl Kusunoki Sae gets drafted into saving the world — not exactly the resume she was building. Evil magicians from a parallel universe have started invading Earth, draining human consciousness to power themselves up, and somehow Sae ends up as humanity's magical girl defender, fairy companion Emito in tow. The catch is that every enemy she faces is less 'terrifying interdimensional threat' and more 'deeply unsettling pervert from another dimension.' It makes her job significantly weirder than advertised. This 2-episode OVA from 2006 leans fully into adult territory, so know going in that it's hentai — the magical girl framing is real, but the content is explicit. Think of it as sitting in the same space as Mahou Shoujo Ai, where the genre's familiar tropes get filtered through an adult lens rather than played straight. If you've seen Mahou Shoujo Site and wondered what the genre looks like when it swings toward mature content instead of grimdark, this is a different angle on that same question. The setup is genuinely kind of funny in a deadpan way — reluctant hero, absurd enemies, parallel universe stakes that somehow hinge on a shy girl who didn't ask for any of this. It's short enough that the premise carries the runtime without overstaying its welcome. Go in knowing exactly what genre this is, and it delivers what it promises.
