Back in the Misato home, Suguru announces a visit from his maternal grandfather, Yuuichiro Konoe. Mahoro and Minawa are initially curious, but Mahoro is genuinely shocked when Suguru reveals Yuuichiro is the chairman of Konoe Heavy Industries. Yuuichiro himself then arrives, a whirlwind of loud energy, instantly doting on Minawa and completely unconcerned with formalities.

Yuuichiro's boisterous nature quickly clashes with Mahoro's meticulousness in the kitchen. He attempts to sneak a taste of her cooking, but Mahoro, ever vigilant, blocks him with a ladle. The playful contention escalates into a full-blown "cooking battle," with Yuuichiro declaring the kitchen a battlefield. Mahoro deftly uses her cooking utensils as weapons, ultimately planting Yuuichiro face-first into the floor after he tries to grab food mid-air.

After his kitchen defeat, Yuuichiro launches into a dramatic, exaggerated tale of his rise from poverty, complete with mental images of himself as a warrior. Suguru quickly interjects, informing Mahoro and Minawa that his grandfather's family was actually wealthy from the start. Just as the house settles, the doorbell rings, revealing Suguru's female classmates and teacher, Saori Shikijo, arriving all at once, much to Yuuichiro's immediate, comedic jealousy.

Amidst the growing party, Ryuga, the mysterious teacher, arrives and gives Mahoro a folded piece of paper. The note, poorly written and addressed to Suguru's house, is revealed to be from Slash the cat, a subtle nod to the ongoing secret surveillance. Inside, Yuuichiro challenges Ryuga to drink, and Ryuga casually drops the bombshell that he is only three years old, referring to his android nature. This shocks Yuuichiro, who accidentally sprays him with beer.

The party continues with a drunken karaoke duet between Yuuichiro and Ryuga, entertaining Suguru's friends but exhausting Suguru himself. As guests depart, Yuuichiro, still intoxicated, attempts to kiss a very drunk Teacher Shikijo, leading to a furious rebuke from Mahoro and Suguru. Later, in the quiet kitchen, Mahoro washes dishes with a pensive Minawa, sensing the young girl processing complex feelings about family.

Yuuichiro pulls Suguru aside for a truly ill-conceived "grandfather-grandson" activity: peeking into the bathroom while Mahoro and Minawa are bathing. Suguru is horrified and resists, but Yuuichiro is determined, arguing it's a natural urge and a bonding experience. He even uses the past revelation of Suguru and Mahoro bathing together to try and break Suguru's moral resolve. The old man's strength is surprising as he drags Suguru toward the hallway.

Outside, Yuuichiro lifts Suguru onto his shoulders to peek through the bathroom window. Inside, Mahoro is playfully teasing Minawa, but her combat reflexes activate as she senses their presence. Without hesitation, Mahoro throws a bucket of hot water through the window, drenching Yuuichiro and Suguru and ending their peeking attempt with scalding pain. Back inside, Mahoro delivers a stern lecture, deeply disappointed in both men.

As night falls, a different Yuuichiro emerges. Preparing for bed, he offers Suguru profound advice, telling him that true strength and "coolness" come from acknowledging one's weaknesses. He encourages Suguru to find what truly matters to him, rather than simply drifting through life. Suguru listens intently, his earlier frustration replaced by a newfound respect for his grandfather's wisdom.

At dawn, Mahoro finds Yuuichiro on the roof, sharing a quiet, solemn moment. Mahoro confides her deep fears about the impending conflict and her own limited lifespan. She admits that what truly terrifies her now is the thought of losing Minawa and the other precious people she has found. Yuuichiro listens with a rare, gentle understanding, acknowledging the heavy burden Mahoro carries.

Yuuichiro departs, offering Minawa a final pat and advising Mahoro to care for Suguru. His parting words to Suguru are simply "Become a good man." After he leaves, Suguru wonders about the sudden visit. Mahoro internally reflects that Yuuichiro likely knew the day of destiny between Saint and Earth was drawing near, wanting to see them one last time. The episode closes with scientists in a dark lab, excitedly processing data on Mahoro's functions, their focus narrowing on her as the true target.
