The Formula 1 death trap is high-stakes and way grittier than later seasons. Lupin’s iconic charisma and that cool jazz soundtrack are already peak. A total classic that aged like fine wine!

Episode Context

As the series premiere of a largely episodic 23-episode season, this episode's primary job is establishing the core cast and the show's freewheeling tone rather than launching a long-form narrative. It introduces the essential character dynamics. Lupin's rivalry with Zenigata, his complicated relationship with Fujiko, and his partnership with Jigen, that serve as the connective tissue across the standalone adventures to come. Everything that follows builds on the foundation laid here.
